The Baby Book

8.31.2012

Most new mothers insist they will take tons of picture and make adorable scrapbooks or baby books and from there the babies entire childhood will be documented. This stamina is usually quickly diminished with the stresses of  a new baby, and once you add ANOTHER unit to that mix... you can basically forget about it. I don't have hardly any pictures from my childhood, dang you momma!

Anyways, I have started this adventure with a little bit of a twist. First of all, I wanted something totally adorable and I didn't want it to look like I cheaped out or didn't make any sort of effort. Sooo I looked on Etsy.com (yes, I suck and cannot do all those cute DIY stuff myself) and they were RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I get it, they spend a lot of time on it, but 150$ for a baby book? Sheesh.

Anyways after a lot of searching and brainstorming I happened to be cleaning out some of my baby shower stuff a stumbled on a gift-card for Shutterfly, a website that makes personal baby books, wedding books, books, books, books! When I went to the website I was immediately addicted. SOO many choices and they are reasonable priced.

If you go with the largest book (12"x12") in the storytelling (which is more expensive I guess because they allow you to have more personal touches) a 20 pages hard cover book is only $32.00!

On top of that, when I purchased something at Motherhood they gave me a "new mommy kit" which had like the best coupons ever, and included a $20 off at Shutterfly! So, I get an amazing baby book for only $12, HOLLA!

Here are some examples of the baby book I have been making. Beware, it really is addicting! But they are the perfect gift for grandmas and other extended family members, and a timeless memory!

Happy Birthday "2" You!

Today Jaxon is TWO months old! Crazy how time flies. As of today he is 9 lbs 9 oz and 21.5" long!

Another busy weekend!

8.07.2012

This past weekend the Taylor family went to our home state of Utah! It was so good to see family and friends we hadn't gotten to see in a while. We even attended the Lazenby family reunion, a reunion I have gone to every year as long as I can remember! It is at Veteran's Park in Provo and every year they have family Olympics, a raffle, face painting, swimming and of course TONS of food. On the other side of the family we were able to have a BBQ and people were able to meet Jaxon for the first time. While we were there we were also able to bless Jaxon (for anyone who is not LDS, this is a tradition where the baby gets an official name in the church... among other things). It really was special to see just how much so many people love our little boy. He really has brought so many people together and is extremely lucky to be born into such a large loving family!

Of course, being in such a large group in such close quarters can lead to some drama, but what would a family reunion be without it!

I just wanted to again thank everyone who was able to be a part of such a great weekend! And of course those who weren't able to make it! I will post pictures soon!

Back to work!

8.01.2012

So, Colton and I are both back at work.... I am sure you can here the excitement in my voice. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job; and I am happy Colton found a job he enjoys as well. It is just a bittersweet moment to leave our baby in someone else' hands even if its only part time. I work during the week, and Colton works over night on the weekends.. so we are now learning to situate our schedule so we can have our baby home as much as possible and we get to spend time as a family.
